Gastrointestinal polyps do not usually cause high scc (squamous epithelial cell carcinoma antigen) because they are usually derived from glandular epithelial cells and are mostly benign, so they do not usually cause elevated scc. SCC, or squamous epithelial cell carcinoma antigen, is a glycoprotein isolated from squamous epithelial cell carcinoma tissues of the uterine cervix, and is a specific tumor marker for squamous carcinoma. Most intestinal polyps and gastric polyps are benign and do not cause high scc. It is recommended that patients with intestinal and gastric polyps actively go to regular hospitals to receive examination, and decide whether treatment is needed according to the examination results.
