Does eight months of endocrine therapy for advanced prostate cancer help?

Generally speaking, endocrine therapy is useful for patients with advanced prostate cancer. Endocrine therapy is currently the mainstay of treatment for locally advanced prostate cancer and metastatic prostate cancer, and is often useful as a neoadjuvant treatment before radical surgery or radiotherapy, as an adjuvant treatment after radical surgery or radiotherapy, and after local recurrence or progression following curative treatment. Endocrine therapy is to reduce androgen levels in prostate cancer patients by inhibiting androgen synthesis of adrenal origin, inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and blocking the binding of androgen to the receptor, in order to induce apoptosis or inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells, thus inhibiting the progression of the cancer. It is recommended that patients with advanced prostate cancer follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid delaying their condition.
