Once detected, cerebral dermoid cysts usually require prompt surgical removal; early surgery is important for disease recovery.
1. Cerebral dermoid cysts are rare, they are congenital tumors of the central nervous system originating from ectoderm, with a lower proportion in the primary tumors of the central nervous system, and most of them are found in the supratentorial, anterior longitudinal fissure of the brain, the earth part of the cerebellum, the fourth ventricle and other parts, and most of them occur in the vicinity of the midline of the brain.
2. Cerebral dermoid cysts may present with dizziness, headache, tinnitus, abnormal limb movement and other manifestations. Imaging tests such as MRI can be used to make a definitive diagnosis of the disease.
3. The preferred treatment for this disease is microsurgical resection of the tumor tissue. Drugs are generally only symptomatic and cannot cure cystic lesions, so surgical resection is preferred. For some lesions with close relationship with peripheral nerves and blood vessels, subtotal resection is feasible. Cerebral dermoid cysts are benign tumors and usually have a better prognosis after early aggressive surgical treatment.
If you find dermoid cysts, it is recommended that you go to the hospital in time, complete the relevant examinations, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
