The tests needed for tonsillitis include physical examination, routine blood tests, and sometimes pathologic tests.
1. Physical examination.
(1) Acute tonsillitis: acute face, flushing, fever, reluctance to speak, etc. are often seen. The pharyngeal mucosa can be seen to be eroded and congested; the palatine tonsils are enlarged, and yellowish-white dot-like follicles can be seen on the surface. At the same time, there may be enlarged lymph nodes in the angle of the jaw.
(2) Chronic tonsillitis: palpation of the tonsils may have a hard solid sensation; see the palato-lingual arch obvious chronic congestion, the pharyngeal crypts may have yellow-white pus embolus.
2. blood routine, biochemical examination: acute tonsillitis can be seen in the total number of leukocytes increased, neutrophilia.
3. Pathological examination: when the diagnosis is doubtful, pathological examination can be carried out for differential diagnosis with tonsillar tuberculosis and malignant tumor.
