Liver Depression and Spleen Deficiency with Upper Heat and Lower Cold are two different types of TCM evidence. Liver Depression and Spleen Deficiency can be treated with the Chinese herbal remedy Easy San, while Upper Heat and Lower Cold is treated with the Chinese herbal remedy Umei Pill, and so on. 1. Liver Depression and Spleen Deficiency: manifested as pain in both sides of the body, breast distension and pain, dizziness, headache, dry throat and mouth, low appetite and fatigue, irregular menstruation, etc. The treatment should be dredging the liver and strengthening the spleen (regulating the heat and cold). Treatment should dredge the liver and strengthen the spleen (regulate the liver qi and strengthen the spleen function), but with Free and Easy San, the Chinese herbs are licorice, angelica, atractylodes, poria, white peony, and chai hu. The adverse effects and contraindications of this formula are not clear. 2. Upper heat and lower cold (heat in the upper part and cold in the lower part): manifested as irritable heat in the chest (irritable and stuffy heat), abdominal pain and warmth, frequent desire for vomiting, and thinning of stools. Treatment is recommended to clear the upper part and warm the lower part, and can use Wu Mei Pill, the Chinese herbs are pepper, fine pungent, Wu Mei meat, dry ginger, epimedium, cinnamon stick, yellow dock, cypress, ginseng, angelica. Adverse effects and contraindications of this formula are unclear. The presence of liver depression and spleen deficiency or upper heat and lower cold, should be under the guidance of a doctor to identify the evidence and use the drug, not blindly self-medication.
