Efficacy and effects of methyl violet solution

Methyl violet solution is also generally known as gentian violet. It is generally applied for its bactericidal effect on Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Diphtheria or Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans surface ringworm. It has no effect on Gram-negative bacteria or other acid-resistant bacilli. It is more suitable for purulent infections of skin or mucous membrane or stomatitis caused by Candida albicans, and can also be used for local disinfection of burns or scalds. It is used topically to treat infections of mucous membranes or skin.
