There are various clinical treatments for lumbar disc herniation, which can be summarized into two categories: non-surgical treatment (conservative treatment) and surgical treatment. Non-surgical treatment mainly includes traditional Chinese medicine, western medicine, traction, manipulation, physiotherapy, transcutaneous electrical stimulation and functional exercise, etc. Surgical treatment can be divided into traditional incisional surgery and minimally invasive surgery. Domestic statistics show that only 10% to 20% of hospitalized patients with lumbar disc herniation require surgery. Domestic and foreign scholars believe that more than 80% of non-surgical treatment for lumbar disc herniation is effective and can eliminate surgery for life, and can also avoid the occurrence of lumbar spine surgery failure syndrome in rabbits.
