Lumbar disc herniation is most serious with lumbar 2-3 herniation. Lumbar spine herniation is commonly seen in lumbar disc herniation. Clinically, when the lumbar disc herniation is in a higher position, the more serious the symptoms are, especially the lumbar 2-3 herniation is the most serious, and it can even cause paralysis of both lower limbs. High lumbar herniation can cause femoral neuralgia and sciatica. Sciatica is a radiating pain from the lower lumbar region to the buttocks, the back of the thighs, the outside of the calves and up to the feet, and the pain is aggravated by increased abdominal pressure such as sneezing or coughing. When the herniated disc compresses the cauda equina or above, the patient mainly manifests the obstacle of urination and defecation, abnormal perineum and perianal sensation, and in severe cases, complete incontinence of urine and faeces and paralysis of both lower limbs may occur.
