Where do gallstones hurt?

Gallstones can present with right upper abdominal pain, right shoulder and back pain and total abdominal pain. 1. Upper right abdominal pain: gallbladder is located in the upper right abdomen, gallstones can rub and damage the gallbladder and obstruct the flow of bile, resulting in gallbladder damage and bile stasis causing discomfort and pain in the upper right abdomen. 2. Right shoulder and back pain: gallstones can induce cholecystitis, and when gallbladder inflammation occurs, it can stimulate the right phrenic nerve endings, and the right phrenic nerve innervates the skin sensation of the right shoulder and back, which causes right shoulder and back pain. 3. Abdominal pain: when gallstones cause suppurative inflammation of the bile ducts, perforation of the bile ducts and other complications, it can lead to infection throughout the abdomen or bile flow into the abdominal cavity, causing infective peritonitis or cholestatic peritonitis, which will lead to abdominal pain.
