Thyroid ultrasound cannot detect carotid plaque. Thyroid ultrasound is mainly used to detect the thyroid gland, to determine whether there are nodules and enlargement of the thyroid gland, and to assist in the screening of thyroid diseases, such as thyroid nodules, thyroiditis, etc. However, it is not able to diagnose whether there are carotid plaques or not, and the results of the examination generally do not indicate whether there are plaques or not. To determine the carotid plaque, generally after the doctor’s questioning and physical examination, and then through laboratory tests for preliminary diagnosis, if suggesting that the atherosclerosis risk group, and then carotid ultrasound for clarification. If carotid plaque is found, the systemic vascular condition should be evaluated under the guidance of a doctor.
