What’s wrong with the swollen neck?

If the neck is a little swollen, the following aspects must be considered: 1. If the swelling occurs in the front of the neck, the first consideration is the thyroid gland. For example, hyperthyroidism, resulting in diffuse enlargement of the thyroid gland. It may also be a swelling of the thyroid gland, such as a thyroid nodule, thyroid adenoma, or even thyroid cancer.2. It is possible that the lymph nodes in the front of the neck are swollen, but this condition is usually accompanied by symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection. For example, pharyngitis, sore throat, dry throat or nasal congestion, runny nose, coughing and phlegm. 3. If the swelling is on the back side of the neck, it is usually a problem of the neck muscles. For example, muscle strain in the neck or cervical spondylosis, which compresses the dural sac or nerve roots and stimulates the local muscles, resulting in local muscle spasm and edema.
