What are the symptoms and treatment of chronic esophagitis?

Chronic esophagitis mostly manifests as dull pain behind the sternum, feeling of food obstruction, and some of them have symptoms of reflux syndrome. Treatment is mainly based on internal medicine, and some patients need surgical treatment. 1. Symptoms: Chronic esophagitis is characterized by retrosternal tightness and pain, or tightness and pain in the upper abdomen, below the left scapula, and in the chest cavity, which can be aggravated when eating rough, dry or irritating food; food is swallowed slowly when eating, but there is seldom any difficulty in swallowing; some of them are characterized by reflux syndrome, such as reflux-induced heartburn, chest pain, etc, and distension of the epigastric region after eating. 2.Treatment: (1) Symptomatic treatment: chronic esophagitis is mainly treated with internal symptomatic treatment. Chronic esophagitis can take gastric stimulants, such as itopride hydrochloride, mosapride, etc., or oral acid inhibitors, such as omeprazole, ranitidine and so on. (2) Surgery: Surgery can be chosen if internal medicine treatment is ineffective or severe esophageal stenosis, esophageal ulcer, esophageal hiatal hernia and so on. Chronic esophagitis is recommended to go to regular hospitals for standardized treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
