It can be corrected. Adenoid facies is a typical demented face with respiratory obstruction due to adenoid hypertrophy and resulting in specific maxillofacial deformities, i.e., elongated mandible, high arched palate, narrowed maxilla, protruding upper incisors, open lip and teeth, and lack of expression. Adenoid hypertrophy treatment is a sequential process. After the resolution of adenoid hypertrophy, the patient needs to go to the orthodontic department for maxillofacial correction.
Depending on its characteristics the main means are: orthodontic and/or orthognathic treatment for arch expansion, mandibular retraction or anticuspension. The optimal time for orthodontic treatment in children is at the age of 3-5 years, and in adolescents the optimal time for correction is at the age of 10-12 years, 1-2 years prior to the period of rapid pubertal development.
If children have open mouth breathing and snoring at night, it is recommended that adequate attention should be paid and prompt medical attention should be sought.
