Can children be screened for tuberculosis?

Children can be screened for tuberculosis. If a child has symptoms and needs to be screened for tuberculosis, he or she may need to have a radiograph and sputum test; if the child is asymptomatic, it is recommended that a tuberculin test be performed during the tuberculosis screening process, as this test is relatively sensitive and specific for children. If a child does need to be screened, he or she must go to a regular hospital and follow the doctor’s orders, without having to be screened for all items.
