How long can I live if I can’t eat with stomach cancer?

Patients with gastric cancer who are not able to eat have a relatively short survival time. If they reach stage III or IV, their survival time in this case is about three months to six months. In some severe cases of gastric cancer, if obstruction occurs, it may cause multiple organ failure or cachexia in a short period of time, within one month, leading to the patient’s death. If gastric cancer patients are not able to eat, enteral and parenteral nutrition can be adopted to further maintain the physiological needs of patients, which may appropriately be able to prolong their survival time. Palliative surgery, including enterostomy or gastrojejunostomy, can also be adopted to improve the obstructive symptoms formed by the patient, all of which can help improve the survival time of the patient.
