Most children will consciously call their father and mother by the age of 12-15 months. Language development is a gradual process, and language functions are manifested at a very young age. It is normal for a child to be able to produce vowel sounds such as a and o at the age of two months; to be able to laugh and babble at the age of three months; to be able to understand his/her own name at the age of six months; to express welcome and goodbye at the age of nine months; to mimic the pronunciation of sounds at the age of ten months; and to be able to express his/her own needs with gestures at the age of one year. It is important to take your baby to the Child Health Unit regularly for neuropsychological developmental assessment for early detection of abnormalities and early intervention, as the younger the age, the better the effect of intervention.
