For cartilage tissue contusions, patients with mild cases will mainly present with pain and interference with movement, while severe cases will present with immobility of the joint or sudden jamming or interlocking. After a cartilage contusion, the patient will present with pain that interferes with joint function. For mild contusions, often due to sprains or various causes of trauma resulting in cartilage damage, there may be pain during activity and joint function may be affected. If the cartilage contusion is very serious or even ruptured or defective, symptoms such as joint interlocking and seizure may occur.
