How to Rehabilitate a Fractured Humerus

If rehabilitation is needed after humerus fracture, with conservative treatment you need to wear external fixation support and carry out functional training of the shoulder joint, and if surgical treatment is carried out, you need to carry out passive functional exercises.
For conservative treatment after humerus fracture, the patient should wear external fixation support or be immobilized with plaster for 4~6 weeks, and should go to the hospital to review the rehabilitation result after 4~6 weeks. If the examination result is OK, you can carry out functional exercises such as abduction, flexion and extension of the shoulder joint, and also cooperate with active flexion and extension activities, which is beneficial to the recovery.
If the humerus fracture is treated surgically, after one week of operation, if the broken end is relatively stable, you can do passive functional exercises, mainly flexion, extension and rotation. If there is no obvious problem, you can then work with active flexion and extension activities and rotational exercises.
Rehabilitation exercises should be done appropriately, do not do active lifting until the fracture is completely healed to prevent deformity, and the angle of shoulder joint activity should not be too large. If you feel localized pain and other uncomfortable symptoms during the rehabilitation period, you should consult a doctor in time.
