The most difficult topic to be avoided in finger merging surgery is skin grafting, because most of the finger merging and finger splitting will have a missing amount of skin, and if the skin cannot be grafted from other parts to cover it, the surgical result is not guaranteed. In the past, in order to make the trauma of finger merging and finger splitting grow smoothly, we usually take some skin from the child’s belly to cover the trauma, but this method can ensure the growth of the finger body, but it also has some disadvantages, such as new trauma and scars on the belly after the surgery, which will affect the aesthetics, and the dressing will be restricted if it is a girl. Moreover, there is a possibility of necrosis of the implant, which is not 100% survivable, and if necrosis occurs, the child will face the possibility of reoperation, which will be more painful. Even if the implant is successful, parents and children should be prepared for the fact that it is not the original skin on the hand, so there will be some pigmentation, and the appearance will be more obvious. For the treatment of juxtaposition, we use artificial dermis to induce the skin to grow inward from the periphery to the middle of the wound. During the process of inducing skin growth, it is necessary to change the medication regularly and wait for a certain period of time. When the skin is fully grown, it will be in the same condition as the original skin, and the appearance is natural and the postoperative scars will be hidden and not too obvious. The most important thing is that this technique can solve the problem of post-split finger trauma without taking skin from the child, and there is no possibility of necrosis of the skin implant.
