Newborn baby with high jaundice, now five months can rule out sequelae

Physiological jaundice after birth will not leave sequelae, pathological jaundice will leave sequelae if secondary bilirubin encephalopathy, whether it can be ruled out at 5 months need to be examined to be clear.
1.Physiological jaundice of babies generally refers to the jaundice that appears 2~3 days after birth and subsides naturally in about 2 weeks, and some premature babies can subside in 3~4 weeks after birth. There is no need for special treatment and it will not leave any after-effects.
2. Pathological jaundice may be secondary to bilirubin encephalopathy, and the diagnosis is mainly based on the abnormal elevation of bilirubin, clinical manifestations, and cranial MRI manifestations. If bilirubin encephalopathy has already been caused, the child may be left with sequelae, and the symptoms, such as hearing impairment and mental retardation, can appear after 2 months. At 5 months of age, the baby needs to be examined by a doctor to rule out sequelae.
