What to do when a pacemaker runs out of power

Existing pacemakers are of an all-in-one design, with the functional area and the battery area together, so the entire pacemaker cannot be recharged by an external device when the pacemaker is dead. If there is no power, the pacemaker needs to be removed by incision, replaced with a new pacemaker, and then connected to the lead with sutures in order for the patient to continue using the pacemaker function. Since the pacemaker battery has a life span, patients are advised to schedule the pacemaker according to its age and to accelerate the frequency of the pacemaker when the battery is about to run out in order to prevent adverse events caused by a dead pacemaker. At present, the average life span of pacemakers commonly used in clinical practice is about 10 years, and there is now a long-life pacemaker with a life span of about 15 years.
