Vaginismus is an involuntary contraction of the vaginal opening during intercourse that prevents the man’s penis from penetrating the vagina. It may be the result of a previously excessively painful sexual encounter that causes the woman to subconsciously prevent the man’s penis from entering, or it may be the result of intense stimulation of the vaginal opening.
Of course, vaginal spasms can occur in women who are reluctant to have sex, fear pregnancy, fear of being controlled by a man, fear of losing themselves or fear of being hurt during sex.
