A headache that hurts a lot all at once may be a type of tension headache. The main medications used to treat the disease include aspirin, acetaminophen, diclofenac or ibuprofen. If the patient is pregnant, breastfeeding, or a child, or if the patient is adolescent, or if the patient has contraindications to the medication and cannot tolerate it, the main treatment should be psychotherapy, including relaxation training, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and pain control training.
