Pitavastatin is used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, etc. It has some hepatotoxicity and myotoxicity, etc. Pitavastatin is a hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitor, which exerts its effect of lowering cholesterol levels and triacylglycerol levels by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis, and is used in hypercholesterolemia. The drug may cause hepatotoxicity, resulting in elevated serum ALT and AST. In patients with liver disease, the drug should be started at a low dose, and creatine kinase and liver function should be monitored during administration. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease or biliary obstruction. Pitavastatin may also cause myotoxicity, myalgia, muscle weakness, rhabdomyolysis, etc. There is also the possibility of adverse reactions such as numbness, fatigue, and drug rash. It is contraindicated in special populations such as pregnant and lactating women. It is prohibited to combine with beta drugs (e.g., gemfibrozil, gemfibrozil), which may lead to lethal rhabdomyolysis. Patients should use it under the guidance of a medical professional and should not use it without authorization.
