The ability of epilepsy patients to undergo surgery is mainly related to several factors: first, the suitability for surgery. As mentioned earlier, patients with epilepsy who can find a clear “responsible lesion” for the seizure through modern medical examination, such as brain tumor, cerebrovascular disease, congenital cortical dysplasia, etc., can achieve better surgical results by surgically removing the “responsible lesion”. “In some patients with drug-refractory epilepsy, surgical treatment is also suitable. Of course, a systematic and comprehensive evaluation is required before surgery. Second, it is related to whether the patient can tolerate the surgery. Those patients with combined severe systemic diseases, severe mental disorders, intellectual disabilities, and those with significantly decreased body organ function that cannot tolerate surgery are contraindicated for surgery. Third, patients and their families should have a full and correct understanding of the surgical results.
