A stinging sensation in the eye with colestipol eye drops, also known as levofloxacin eye drops, is usually caused by a normal reaction to the medication if it lasts less than a minute and does not need to be treated; if it lasts for a longer period of time, it may be due to an allergic reaction to the medication, for example, and it is important to switch to another medication to treat the condition.
Levofloxacin eye drops are commonly used in the treatment of eye infectious diseases, such as bacterial conjunctivitis, bacterial keratitis and so on. If patients experience a short period of tingling sensation in the eye after eye-dotting for no more than a minute, it is usually caused by a normal reaction to drug-dotting, related to the temperature at which the drug is kept as well as the irritation of the drug components themselves, and does not need to be treated.
If the patient’s stinging pain is maintained for a longer period of time, more than one minute, it may be caused by an allergic reaction to the drug, and need to be replaced with other antibiotic eye drops for treatment, such as tobramycin eye drops, moxifloxacin eye drops, and so on.
Patients with tingling sensation in the eye after using levofloxacin eye drops should go to the ophthalmology department of the regular hospital in time.
