The chance of curing cervical cancer after recurrence is not high.
Cervical cancer is mainly treated by radical surgery, while patients who refuse surgery or lose the opportunity of surgery are mainly treated by radical radiotherapy or combined chemotherapy. Recurrence after radical treatment mainly includes local/regional recurrence, distant metastasis or both.
Recurrent cervical cancer is difficult in clinical treatment, with low surgical resection rate and high postoperative recurrence rate. Patients with recurrence after radical treatment of cervical cancer generally have a poor prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of 10% to 20%. Therefore, the chance of being cured again after cervical cancer recurrence is relatively low.
However, the specific chances of cure also need to be considered according to various aspects such as the patient’s physical condition, treatment method and the patient’s mentality. Patients must actively cooperate with doctors to achieve the best treatment effect.
