What is the cause of st-segment changes on the ECG

ST segment changes on ECG may be caused by physiologic factors such as sleep deprivation or pathologic factors such as myocardial infarction.
1. Physiological factors: Sleep deprivation due to busy work, depression, etc. may cause ST segment changes in ECG. In addition, ST segment changes may also occur in normal people during physical examination, such as a slight elevation of the ST segment level, which may indicate the manifestation of early repolarization, or a mild downward shift of the ST segment.
2. Pathological factors: ST segment elevation suggests that there may be myocardial infarction; while ST segment depression suggests that there may be myocardial ischemia, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy and other conditions.
If there is no symptom, there is no need to worry too much about ST segment change, and regular follow-up is sufficient; however, if it is accompanied by chest pain, chest tightness and other uncomfortable symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time, and improve other related examinations under the guidance of cardiovascular physicians to clarify the diagnosis and treatment.
