Causes of pain above the brow bone

The pain above the brow bone should first be ruled out to be caused by trauma, such as fracture of the frontal bone, fracture of the superior orbital wall, subcutaneous hematoma of the brow arch, skin laceration of the brow arch, etc. With a clear history of trauma and bruising of the skin of the brow arch, orbital CT examination is needed to basically confirm the diagnosis. Some patients may suffer from eye strain, such as uncorrected refractive error, long hours of computer and cell phone work, which manifests as soreness and swelling of the eyes and orbital bone pain. Orbital cellulitis or orbital abscesses from a variety of causes may also present with significant pain, usually throughout the orbit, such as blepharitis or eyelid abscesses after the inflammation has spread. In the case of frontal sinusitis, there may be frontal pain, nasal congestion and yellow runny nose, and the symptoms may be more pronounced in the morning when you wake up, requiring a CT examination of the paranasal sinuses to confirm the diagnosis.
