What causes your eyes to water?

Tears in the eyes are usually caused by physiological factors such as emotional excitement, environmental stimuli, etc. They may also be caused by pathologic factors such as chronic inflammation and tear duct obstruction.
1. Physiological factors: the patient’s emotional excitement, such as laughter, crying, etc., can lead to increased tear secretion, causing physiological tearing. If the patient is stimulated by cold wind, dust, bright light and other stimuli in the environment, tear secretion can also increase dramatically, thus leading to the symptoms of tearing.
2. Pathological factors: patients with conjunctivitis, keratitis and other ocular inflammatory diseases, under the stimulation of inflammation, tear secretion increases, which can cause the symptoms of eye flow. In addition, patients with tear duct obstruction, because the normal secretion of tears can not completely flow into the nasal cavity and out of the eyelids, thus leading to patients with tearing.
It is recommended that patients with frequent tearing should seek medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
