What’s wrong with a lump on the eyelid that doesn’t hurt?

A lump on the eyelid that is not painful or itchy is generally considered to be a chalazion, or cyst of the lid gland, which is caused by obstruction of the opening of the lid gland, causing secretions from the lid gland to drain out of the lid duct and gradually form a cyst. This condition can be treated with hot compresses when it is small to promote the absorption of the secretions. If the hot compresses do not work and the cyst gradually becomes larger, it may form a cystic wall inside and the body will not be able to absorb the cyst and it can only be removed surgically. Because the cyst is not an inflammatory reaction, it is generally not painful or itchy, but if it does increase in size, it can only be surgically removed. Before surgery, there is no need to use too much medication, just apply heat and try to see if it can get smaller.
