High thyroxine in late pregnancy can be caused by physiologic and pathologic reasons, which can be treated by regular review and oral medication.
1. Physiological causes: During pregnancy, chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone similar in structure to thyrotropin, can stimulate the thyroid gland to secrete more thyroxine. In this state, it naturally affects thyroid hormone abnormalities. Usually there is no need to use drugs, mostly transient, need to regularly review the thyroid function.
2. Pathological causes: hyperthyroidism in late pregnancy can have high thyroid hormones, oral antithyroid drugs such as: propylthiouracil, methimazole and so on. These drugs can effectively control the production of thyroid hormones and relieve the problem of high thyroid hormones. In early pregnancy (first trimester), propylthiouracil can be chosen, and methimazole is preferred in middle and late pregnancy.
If thyroxine is high in late pregnancy, you should go to the hospital in time and take treatment under the guidance of your doctor.
