Are swollen and painful fingertips rheumatoid?



Swelling and pain in the fingertips may be caused by inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout and other reasons, not necessarily rheumatoid.

1. Fingertip area if inflammation and infection, pathogenic bacteria stimulation to the lesion area caused by the local location of redness, swelling, heat and pain.

2. Rheumatoid arthritis: mainly autoimmune system abnormalities resulting in erosive arthritis, mainly manifested in finger joints, metacarpophalangeal joints and other parts of the morning stiffness, swelling, pain and so on.

3. Osteoarthritis: mainly due to metabolic abnormalities, joint lesions and other causes of joint soreness and pain, which can be manifested as swelling and pain in the interphalangeal joints.

4. Gout: gouty arthritis is related to purine metabolism disorders, elevated blood uric acid leads to urate crystals deposited in the joints and surrounding tissues, redness, swelling, heat and pain, more intense pain.
