Astigmatism usually does not recover on its own, but can be eliminated with treatment. Astigmatism is a common ophthalmologic disease, belonging to a type of refractive error, usually due to congenital developmental abnormalities or long-term squinting to see things and other bad eye habits. Patients with astigmatism usually have a difference in corneal curvature between the vertical and horizontal directions, which prevents light rays from converging to form a focal point after refraction by the cornea, resulting in blurred vision. Astigmatism cannot be recovered on its own, but if the patient is already an adult and the astigmatism has been stable for more than a year, he/she can consider correcting it by wearing lenses, or treating it by doing laser surgery, etc., so as to eliminate astigmatism.
