Toxoplasma testing does not require fasting. The most common method used to detect Toxoplasma gondii is to detect Toxoplasma gondii antibodies in the blood type, i.e., specific antibodies IgG and IgM, which are not affected by eating, and Toxoplasma gondii infection is most common as an occult infection. When women undergo a preconception checkup, they usually do not just get tested for Toxoplasma gondii, but for the five eugenics tests, which include rubella virus, herpes virus, toxoplasma test, and cytomegalovirus test. In the eugenics test, if the IgM is positive, it means that the infection is ongoing and needs to be treated accordingly, while if the IgG is positive, it means a previous infection and usually does not need to be treated.
