Correct Formula and Dosage of Gui Zhi Paeoniae Zhi Mu Tang

Gui Zhi Pao Yao Zhi Mu Tang is composed of 4 taels of Gui Zhi, 3 taels of Paeoniae Alba, 2 taels of Glycyrrhiza glabra, 2 taels of Ephedra, 3 taels of Zhi Mu, 5 taels of ginger, 5 taels of Atractylodes macrocephala, 4 taels of Fenghuang (wind-preventing agent), and 2 pieces of Pseudostemma acuminatum. Gui Zhi Pao Yao Zhi Mu Tang has the effects of dispelling wind and removing dampness, promoting yang-paralysis (dispersing paralytic obstruction and warming yang qi). In this formula, Gui Zhi has the effects of warming the meridians, relieving the epidermis and dispersing cold (dispersing cold from the surface of the muscles); Paeoniae Lactiflora has the effect of strengthening the spleen; Ephedra and Ginger have the effects of relieving the epidermis and dispersing cold; Zhi Mu has the effect of nourishing yin and clearing away heat (nourishing yin and fluid and dispersing heat). Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae has the effect of strengthening the spleen and dispelling dampness; Fenghuang has the effect of dispelling wind; Radix Pseudostellariae has the effect of warming the meridians and opening up the veins; and Glycyrrhiza glabra harmonizes all the herbs. The combination of all the herbs can help to dispel wind and dampness, and promote Yang circulation and paralysis. Gui Zhi Shi Paeoniae Zhi Mu Tang can be used to treat pain in the joints of the limbs, weakness, swollen feet, dizziness, shortness of breath, reddish tongue with white fur, and moistened pulse due to blockage of the meridians by wind and dampness.
