How long does it take to remove a plate from a fractured metacarpal?

Metacarpal fractures are treated with internal fixation of the bone plate, and the time to take out the plate after surgery is usually about 1 year. Since the internal fixation plate is very good in histocompatibility and strong in fixation, it can be appropriately extended to protect the fracture end better and allow the fracture to reach a very strong and strong healing before removal, thus avoiding fracture re-breaking, or injury. If a metacarpal fracture splint is obtained too early, the fracture will not heal strongly enough and the advantages of the corresponding splint will be lost. Obtained too late, the local bone crust formation, wrapping, and stress obscuration of the plate may instead cause difficulty in removal, or poor fracture plastic modification. Therefore, according to experience, the internal fixation plate is removed about 1 year after surgery, but the time is not absolute according to the specific situation, for example, some patients can also be removed if the plate brings discomfort or affects daily functional training in about half a year.
