What to do if platelets keep dropping in children with thrombocytopenic purpura



Children’s thrombocytopenic purpura platelets have been declining, such as platelets less than or equal to 10×109/L must be emergency treatment.

1. Platelet transfusion: it is used for children with a large number of anti-platelet antibodies in the body, and platelets are usually not imported, only when there is acute visceral hemorrhage, intracranial hemorrhage and other life-threatening transfusions.

2. High-dose intravenous immunoglobulin: 0.4~0.5g/kg per day, continuous intravenous drip for 5 days; or 1g/kg per time, if the situation does not improve, it can be used again on the next day; and then every 3~4 weeks.

3. High-dose methylprednisolone: 20~30mg/(kg-d) IV for three consecutive days, if the symptoms are relieved, it can be changed to oral prednisone.

4. Thrombopoietic drugs: the use of drugs such as romiplostim.

5. Recombinant human activation factor VII: can be used when the previous emergency measures are ineffective.

At the same time must be strictly bedridden, avoid trauma, the above treatments should be carried out in professional medical institutions by professional medical personnel.
