How big a nodule can be seen on an x-ray chest film

Nodules larger than 5 mm can be seen on chest x-ray. X-ray chest radiographs have lower resolution, more overlapping shadows, and can barely detect nodules less than 5 mm if the lesion is hidden, for example, behind a left-sided heart shadow. In the case of ground-glass nodules, the detection rate of x-ray chest radiography may be even lower, so x-ray chest radiography is not recommended for nodule screening, and chest CT is recommended. Chest CT is more accurate, has higher resolution for early lung nodules, and can clearly see the size and shape of the nodule and whether the demarcation with the surrounding tissues is clear, especially the thin layer scanning CT, which can detect nodules as small as 2mm. x-ray chest film is mainly to see whether the texture of the lungs is clear or not, and it is not as sensitive to nodule examination. If the patient appears uncomfortable timely medical treatment, listen to the professional doctor’s opinion.
