Effusion is the Western medical equivalent of sepsis or deep muscle abscesses. Flow injection is a disease in Chinese medicine that corresponds to modern medicine as a systemic infection that occurs deep in the muscles and is a metastatic, multiple abscess. Symptoms include diffuse swelling and pain deep in the muscles of the extremities or trunk, while the skin color seen on the surface is normal, and there are often new occurrences elsewhere before the previous one has healed. The main cause of the disease is the lack of positive qi and the stagnation of evil qi, resulting in the obstruction of the flow of qi and blood, and the development of this disease due to the stagnation of qi and blood clotting for a long time. In the early stage of the disease, treatment should be given to clear heat and detoxify the toxin, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis; when pus is formed, treatment should be given to drain pus and detoxify the toxin; when the disease is repeated many times and the deficiency of positive qi becomes more and more serious, treatment should be given to benefit qi and nourish blood, together with moving qi and activating blood circulation.
