What is the difference between emphysema and lung cancer?

The difference between emphysema and lung cancer is mainly manifested in the nature of disease, clinical manifestation, treatment means and prognosis.

1. In terms of disease nature, emphysema is a benign disease, while lung cancer is a malignant tumor.

2. In terms of clinical manifestations, emphysema mainly manifests shortness of breath after activity, chest tightness and shortness of breath, etc., and seldom has systemic symptoms. Lung cancer usually manifests cough, chest tightness, hemoptysis, dyspnea, etc. In late stage, there are many systemic symptoms such as emaciation and fever.

3. In terms of treatments, emphysema can be treated with antispasmodic and asthma medications, while lung cancer can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy and other treatments.

4. From the perspective of prognosis, emphysema has a better prognosis than lung cancer, and the symptoms of emphysema will improve after treatment. Some patients can get better after lung cancer treatment, and some patients with poor results have shorter survival time.
