Are multiple solid and ground glass nodules in both lungs serious?

The severity of multiple solid and ground-glass nodules in both lungs depends on the cause of the nodules, as both benign and malignant lesions in the lungs can lead to solid or ground-glass nodules. If the lesion is benign, it is usually not serious; if it is malignant, it is serious. Benign lesions include infections, benign tumors, pulmonary vascular abnormalities, and inflammatory lesions. Malignant lesions can be primary lung cancer, metastatic malignant tumors, etc. If the patient has benign nodules without obvious symptoms, no special treatment is needed, but regular review is needed to observe whether there is any dynamic change in the nodules. If the nodules are caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, regular and complete anti-tuberculosis treatment, such as rifampicin, isoniazid, streptomycin and other related anti-tuberculosis drugs, is needed. In case of malignant lesions, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be performed as early as possible. Therefore, when patients have multiple solid and ground-glass nodules in both lungs, they should undergo further lung examinations to make a clear diagnosis and be treated accordingly by the doctor based on the diagnosis and the patient’s overall condition.
