What does hysteroscopic CD138 mean?

Hysteroscopic CD138 suggests the possibility of endometrial inflammation. CD138 is the most specific indicator of plasma cells, and CD138 immunohistochemical staining improves the diagnosis of chronic endometritis. Generally, endometrial tissue taken under hysteroscopy and positive for CD138 after immunohistochemistry by the pathology department suggests endometritis. The indications for hysteroscopy are: abnormal uterine bleeding, suspected uterine adhesions, abnormal ultrasonography, uterine echogenicity or occupancy, localization of intrauterine device and its removal, unexplained infertility, abnormal hysterosalpingography, recurrent miscarriages, etc. Some of the diseases that require hysteroscopy are endometrial polyps, submucosal fibroids, separation of uterine adhesions, removal of endometrium, removal of foreign bodies from the uterus, etc.
