The consideration of dizziness when standing up is related to physiological factors such as change of body position and pathologic factors such as vestibular dysfunction, benign positional vertigo, cerebral infarction and cervical spondylosis. 1. Physiological factors When squatting or sitting, a large amount of blood is located in the lower limbs, and when standing up suddenly, the blood supply to the head is insufficient, causing transient dizziness. 2. Pathologic factors (1) Vestibular neuritis: Vestibular neuritis can lead to vestibular dysfunction. When standing up and changing body position, the patient will have an abnormal sense of balance and feel dizzy. (2) Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, when standing up, when getting up or lying down, etc. when the head position changes, the otolith falls off and deviates from the normal position of the semicircular canal. (3) Cerebral infarction: cerebellar infarction or hemorrhage leads to damage of cerebellar brain tissues, and the sense of balance is abnormal and causes the symptom of standing up dizziness. (4) Cervical spondylosis: when standing up and changing position, the curvature of cervical vertebrae changes, and the cervical disc herniation compresses the vertebral artery and causes dizziness symptoms. When patients experience dizziness when standing up, it is recommended to go to the hospital for timely consultation and standardized treatment according to the doctor’s instructions.
