The prevalence of Parkinson’s disease is increasing in China. 1983 survey of Parkinson’s disease in 6 cities in China. The prevalence of Parkinson’s disease was 34.8/100,000. 2001 reported that the prevalence of Parkinson’s disease in people over 60 years of age in Shanghai was 1.13%. There are racial differences in the prevalence of Parkinson’s disease, with whites having the highest prevalence, blacks having the lowest prevalence, and our yellow population in the middle. The prevalence rate for whites was 106-307/100,000 with an incidence rate of 12-20/100,000; for yellows 44-82/100,000 with an incidence rate of 100/100,000; and for blacks 31-58/100,000 with an incidence rate of 4.5/100,000. The higher the age, the higher the risk of developing PD. the prevalence of PD is 10/100,000 at age 50 and jumps to at least 200/100,000 by age 80. Domestic results from 29 provinces and cities in 1986 showed a prevalence of 0.7/100,000 at ages 0-50, with a peak prevalence of 157.6/100,000 at ages 70-79 and 132/100,000 after age 80.
