What’s wrong with babies who scratch their ears?

Possible reasons for babies’ love to scratch their ears include physiological factors and pathologic factors such as auricular eczema and cerumen impaction.
1. Physiological factors: When babies are relatively young, they cannot express their emotions verbally, so they may express themselves by scratching their ears when they are angry, bored or sleepy.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) Auricular eczema: Auricular eczema occurs on the skin in front of and behind the auricle and manifests itself as pimples, yellow crusts, etc. Due to the itching and discomfort, babies can’t help scratching their ears.
(2) Cerumen blockage: cerumen is earwax, if the accumulation of earwax blocks the ear canal, it will cause itching and other discomforts of the ear canal, and babies will scratch their ears to relieve it.
In addition to the above factors, there are many other reasons why babies love to scratch their ears, such as foreign bodies in the ear canal, acute otitis media and so on. If the baby repeatedly scratching the ear phenomenon, parents are advised to take the baby to the doctor in time, so as to avoid delaying the disease.
