How to treat perforated colon

A perforated colon requires surgical treatment. Conservative treatment is not restorative, and there is a risk of continued exacerbation, even life-threatening. Perforation of the large intestine, which is mostly caused by trauma, is an acute abdominal condition that can lead to acute peritonitis caused by the entry of intestinal contents into the abdominal cavity. Severe abdominal pain and bloating can occur, so bowel perforation cannot be treated conservatively and must be operated on immediately. Surgery for bowel perforation is usually performed by laparoscopic exploration or open exploration to find the location of the perforation and do a bowel resection if necessary. If the resected end of the bowel cannot be anastomosed, it can be managed surgically by distal closure and proximal fistula or enterostomy. Finally the abdominal cavity is cleansed with warm saline and a drain is placed to drain it. The purpose of colostomy surgery is to solve the problem of defecation, and postoperative active intravenous anti-infective treatment, commonly used drugs are cefoperazone, levofloxacin and so on. Colon anastomosis is performed at a later stage. Drugs should be applied under the guidance of the doctor. It is recommended that patients should take more bed rest after the operation, and avoid prolonged physical labor, so as not to make the wound tear. Diet should be light, easy to digest, usually do not eat chili and other stimulating food, also do not eat too greasy food, to prevent the burden on the intestinal tract.
