Metronidazole, also known as methotrexate, is commonly used in the form of tablets and injectable solutions. It has anti-titre and anti-anaerobic bacterial infections. It is the most commonly used antibiotic in gynecology and a very effective antibiotic. Metronidazole is almost indispensable for genital infections and has a wide clinical use. In gynecology, metronidazole injection is often combined with penicillins and cephalosporins for anti-infective treatment, such as treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease, acute cervicitis, and vestibular gland abscess. It is often used to prevent infection and anti-infection treatment after gynecological surgery. It is also used to treat severe bacterial vaginitis, trichomonas infection, etc.
