Spinal tuberculosis belongs to the category of “flowing phlegm” in Chinese medicine, and can be treated with medicines through traditional Chinese medicine. For example, for cold phlegm coagulation syndrome, Yanghe Tang can be added or subtracted; for Yin deficiency and internal heat syndrome, Liuwei Di Huang Pill and Qing Bone San can be added or subtracted; for liver and kidney deficiency syndrome, Zuo Gui Wan and Xiang Bei Nourishing Rong Tang can be added or subtracted; and for qi and blood deficiency syndrome, Ginseng Nourishing Rong Tang or Shiquan Daxin Tang can be added or subtracted. 1. Cold and phlegm coagulation syndrome: the symptoms are vague pain in the lesion area, pain aggravated by movement, alleviated by rest, and impaired movement of the joints; there are no obvious systemic symptoms; the tongue is pale, the moss is thin, and the pulse is moist and thin, etc. The patient can take Yang He Tang with reduction. Yanghe Tang can be used to reduce the symptoms. 2. Yin deficiency and internal heat syndrome: abscess formation, reddish skin color, with soft depression, heavy pressure should be finger; accompanied by afternoon hot flashes, zygomatic redness (cheeks zygomatic bone color flushing), night sweating (sweating abnormally after going to sleep, and waking up sweating stops); red tongue with little moss, fine pulse (the pulse becomes narrower and finer and the rate accelerates), and so on. One can take Liu Wei Di Huang Wan and Qing Bone San with additional reduction. 3. Deficiency of the liver and kidneys: pus flowing from the sores is thin, or mixed with septic material, forming sinus tracts; the disease in the spine can lead to ankylosis, or even paralysis; accompanied by lumbar and spinal pain and night sweating; red tongue with thin moss, and a fine pulse or a weak pulse. You can take Zuo Gui Wan and Xiang Bei Nourishing Rong Tang with subtraction. 4. Qi and blood deficiency: the symptoms include thin pus flowing from the sores, which does not heal for a long time; accompanied by colorlessness, coldness, palpitation, insomnia, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with a little movement); pale red tongue, thin white moss, and thin or weak pulse. One can take Ginseng Nourishing Rong Tang or Shiquan Daxin Tang with additional reduction. If you need to treat this disease, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s prescription for medication.
