Songbei means Dark Purple Shellfish, which is effective in clearing heat, moistening the lungs and resolving phlegm.
Songbei is the bulb of Dark Purple Shellfish, family Liliaceae. Taste bitter, sweet, slightly cold nature; to the lung, heart meridian. It can clear heat and moisten the lung, resolve phlegm and stop cough, disperse nodules and eliminate carbuncle (evacuate nodules and eliminate carbuncle poison), and is used for lung-heat and dry cough, dry cough with little phlegm, yin-deficiency and labor cough, coughing phlegm with blood, scrofula (mainly refers to the cervical lymph nodes tuberculosis), and mammary carbuncle (the redness, swelling, and pain of breasts, and the unsmooth discharge of milk, which ultimately results in a suppurative disease), etc. It is not recommended to combine with aconite.
Songbei should not be used with aconite herbs because of its cold nature, so it should be taken with caution by people with cold spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach) and cold phlegm or wet phlegm.
